This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

At our school, we have a group of incredibly enthusiastic and creative Special Education students who are eager to explore the world of cooking while learning valuable life skills. Our project, Whisk, Chop, Film: Starting Our Student YouTube Cooking Adventure, is the next exciting evolution of a cooking program that has been successfully in place for the last three years.

What I love most about my students is their determination, unique perspectives, and the joy they bring to every task.

They are collaborative, motivated, and excited to share their passion with others. This project will empower them to develop essential culinary skills like measuring, chopping, and mixing, while building confidence and independence in the kitchen.

Each resource we are requesting plays a vital role in this learning journey:

Stainless steel tables: Durable workspaces that provide a professional and sanitary surface for food preparation.

Cutting boards and metal bowls: Essential tools for safe food handling and mixing ingredients efficiently.

Kitchen tools and utensils (whisks, knives, measuring cups): These help students learn proper cooking techniques and build precision.

Small appliances (mixers, blenders, etc.): These expand their cooking possibilities and allow exploration of a variety of recipes.

Building on three years of hands-on cooking experience, this new project will provide our Special Education students with fresh opportunities to grow practical skills, boost self-confidence, and build a strong sense of community — all while having fun and sharing their creations with the world. Your generosity will help make this meaningful next chapter possible!
