Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have been teaching at this school since October 2016. I teach in a pre-kindergarten to 8th grade school with around 750 students; I see all of them. These students come from various cultural backgrounds. Forty-three percent of the school is ELL (English Language Learners.) There are very large-sized classes and varied levels of English speaking students.
Since I am in a poverty-stricken neighborhood, resources are very limited.
These students have very limited instruments in our music classroom.
Being a young, new teacher, this is very challenging to support myself and my classroom. The reason I am asking for this is because my students deserve a classroom that right now I can not give them. I want to help my students in every way and I hope you can help me, help them.
My Project
Our students have been taking good care of our instruments in our classroom, however, accidents are bound to happen! With over 850 students using the same instruments constantly every day, strings break, bridges wiggle and bodies of these instruments can sometimes separate.
These supplies will help offset high repair costs by allowing me to fix minor issues in my classroom.
This gives my students the opportunity to see how the instruments are repaired. By seeing how the instrument gets repaired, students of all interests can find something new and exciting in my music room. All of these supplies will be used to help fix broken guitars, basses, ukeleles, and even drums.
