My Project

As a special education teacher, there is nothing more important to me than creating a classroom environment that is welcoming, safe and optimizes opportunities for learning. In order to do so, I need access to classroom furniture; having two tables and some new lap desks in the classroom will allow for flexible seating! Additionally, by requesting a plush area rug, I will be able to create a comfortable "reading corner" where students can access text while also benefiting from sensory input!

Providing a comfortable, functional learning environment is one of the most effective ways to increase student engagement.

With these new items, I will be able to divide my room into individual centers and better meet the diverse needs of students in my class. Not only will students be able to exercise choice with regards to where they sit while they work, but they'll also have access to seating options that meet sensory needs! All of this allows for better engagement in content!
