This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Pre-K is often the first introduction to school for a child. It is where students experience the magic of learning, the importance of friendship, how to be safe, and discover the world around them. In my class this year, I would like to see more learning through nature inside the classroom- and I need your help! I am requesting Classroom Critters for my students to nurture and research throughout the school year; Critter kits for: Ants, Snails, a Hermit Crab, Ladybugs and Caterpillars which will go through metamorphosis with us!

Not only will students benefit from the scientific opportunity our Classroom Critters will bring, but also encourage our Pre-K students to practice empathy to all living creatures.

My goal for this project is for students to track their learning through science journals and monitor the critters behaviors and changes. This project will also give my leaders a chance to be kind and show responsibility. I would also like to enlist their families to join our project by having families sign up and take our Classroom Critters home for the weekend and journal their experiences with the bug/animal together.

One of the highlights about this project is that I will be a new teacher on the campus with a new class of students. I would be honored to introduce the love of science and nature to my new class and campus! Thank you for being a part of our journey!
