Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students live in a low income area, but that doesn't diminish their love of learning! Our students are fearless when it comes to technology! They are bright, innovative, caring, eager children and they are ready to explore in a 21st century classroom! Every one of our approximately 500 students visits and learns in my classroom. During technology class we are exploring a variety of hardware including computers, Chromebooks, iPads and 3D printers! Students in grades 1st-5th grades will all get a chance to use the green screen that we are requesting in a variety of ways!
My Project
Our technology/media classroom got a new set of ipad this year that we are integrating them into our curriculum. We would love a couple of green screens to help us with our digital storytelling projects (and more)! The green screen will allow students to research places around the globe and then put themselves in those places using our green screen ipad apps. We will also be using the green screen at an upcoming family event where students will be able to place a video of themselves into their own artwork and explain their project using the HP Reveal app. Students are excited and engaged when it comes to the use of green screen technology! These two green screens will be used in our media and technology classrooms to help our students step into parts of the world that they have never explored before. The larger green screen will be placed in a permanent home in our media center, and the portable screen will be used in both the technology lab and the media center so that more than one group of students can record at once. The lighting will be used to light the area in the media center because it currently has tricky back lighting. Our students will research a topic and then present their findings using a green screen app, placing themselves into the surroundings they are presenting about! Students as young as 1st grade that will utilize this technology in our classroom!
