Our students come from a rural area with many small towns. Our school combines these students into a PK-2 setting. We have two hundred and twenty students in our building.
Our school is low-income with one hundred percent of the students receiving free breakfast and lunch.
We are a Title I school and have a high number of homeless students.
I work with students grades K-2 in small groups. Many of my kindergarten students come to school prepared and ready to learn, but many of them have no preschool background and are lacking pre-reading skills.
My Project
I am amazed every year at how quickly our classroom supplies are used and/or disappear. Pencils seem to just get up and walk away, dry erase markers that are to be used for "writing only" seem to run out of ink, and crayons have all lost their nice sharp point!
Two months into the school year and our classroom supplies are already running low!
I love to be able to reward my students with Scratch and Sniff stickers. As a student, they were my favorite and it is so much fun to see my students enjoy them as well. I can't wait to use the bright colored card stock to make some fun centers for my students to enjoy!
