Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a Title 1 school in the South Bronx, where over 94% of the students receive free lunch.
Our job as educators is to encourage our students to become life long learners. One way we instill this value is to motivate students to read. As adults, many of us can sit back and relax with a book. We want students to have this same attitude and experience with books.
My classroom library is accessible to all my students. Not only can they read books in class, they are free to take them to lunch or home. As a result, my classroom library books are beginning to diminish. There are certain books that are great reads and the students take them home. We need help replenishing our classroom library!
