My Students
A day in kindergarten is filled with literacy, math, science, and integrated throughout all our learning is MOVEMENT!
My students range from 4-6 year old full of excitement and readiness to learn.
Coming to school each day is a place where they can feel safe and take risks to try new things. Our school does not qualify for much. We happen to be surrounded by solid middle-class hard working families. Families that value education and support our school as best they can. We don't qualify for government funding so what we have we get from fundraising and hard work.
My Project
Our school has a small fenced kindergarten playground with minimal play equipment and a variety of outdoor equipment purchased through fundraising and 'hand- me-down' donations. We need a secure place to store all these materials needed to learn through purposeful play like the storage bins we're asking for. We also have a need for more materials such as the basketball hoop to build those social skills needed to learn that can be gained by working/playing together with peers.
Each year it seems that the focus on education becomes more rigorous and more rigorous.
Without the ability to work with others to solve problems and complete tasks many students will struggle as young adults and adults. Learning through purposeful play as 4, 5, & 6 year old children sets the foundation for collaboration and a love of learning that our students will need to be successful life time learners.
