My project needs enough outdoor equipment such as jump ropes, hover discs, and Super Grips, to entertain and provide exercise for a class of 15-18 first grade students.
Beginning this Fall, our school will undergo renovations and additions. In this construction time our playground will be taken down. There is nowhere during this time to relocate our playground. We do have some small spaces where children will be able to go outside during our recess time when the playground is gone. We are a small, rural school and do not have much equipment for recess.
I would like to purchase items such as jump ropes, hover discs and Frisbee type items, and other types of outdoor equipment that the first graders will enjoy. This would be a purchase that could easily be shared with students ranging from kindergarten to fifth grade during our construction period. These items will still be used after the playground is re-established in 2010 (hopefully).
Outdoor play is essential for students as it provides better blood flow, a "brain break", and a time to practice social skills and problem solving skills for students. Without the playground and outdoor equipment, our students will have nothing to play with during their recess time. Having these materials gives students a choice of what to do and provides them with countless hours of exercise and play.
Thank you for your help in purchasing these items for us during our time of expansion.
