My second graders come to school eager to tell me about their lives and dig into learning together. My goal is for my students to become life-long, independent learners who have a hunger for knowledge.
My 24 second grade students come from diverse backgrounds, but unite together to learn new things every day.
There are about 400 students in our K-3 country school. It is a high-poverty school with about 80% of the students receiving free or reduced price lunches.
My Project
Every day I meet with multiple small groups of students. This kidney table will make it easier for us to gather close and interact with each other and the concepts we are learning. The dry erase surface will allow students to show their thinking directly on the table without having to be cumbered with bringing more materials to our meeting place.
Show your work!
Students will be able to show their work directly on the table top. This will make it easy to collaborate and allow me to quickly correct misconceptions. It will also enhance engagement since they will easily be able to see the thinking of others in our group.
