Where Can I Find The Recorded Books, Letters And Board...?
My students need learning tools, magnetic letters, boards and a cart to display them in order to be effective explorers of new things in Reading, Math and Writing.
Have you ever wanted to give your children things that you know will make them successful in life but are lacking the finances to do so? So am I, and it's a very rough situation for someone who loves to teach.
I teach in a high poverty-renaissance school.
Many times our parents struggle to provide their children's basic needs and the only time they are exposed to learning tools will be in school. Regardless of their socio-economic situation they are eager to learn so they continuously ask for recorded books, paper to write, magnetic letters, words or boards and manipulatives to use to create stories, make words or solve Math problems.
My Project
What would you do if your child asked for milk because he was hungry and you couldn't feed him? Unimaginable, right?! That's how a teacher without resources feels. I chose this profession so these are the children that I have to feed knowledge to. As their teacher I have the opportunity of making a lifelong change. I can give them an education that will change their lives and prove to them that "the sky is the limit" therefore, they can reach all they aspire to in life.
If you've ever struggled in Reading, Writing or Math, you know that struggling readers, writers and Math solvers don't feel successful or motivated. These resources will help them improve their reading, writing and Math skills as well. They will be able to work with classmates and help each other learn skills and understand concepts not learned otherwise. Research has proven that at times students will understand better if another child explains the concept to them.
I must give my students the opportunity to get their hands on recorded books, writing, Math and language tools so that they can explore while working independently in Literacy and Math Centers.
Being successful will release their inner potential and help them become confident and as a result they'll continue taking the risk that will lead them to success. How will that help us? YOU and ME, can make the difference that these children need and help them become contributing members of OUR society.
