This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are going to change the world! They have big dreams, but as a school we sometimes lack the means to turn these dreams into reality. My students live in a vibrant community that is rich in culture, despite lacking economic resources.

My students are diverse leaders, leading change in the school and community as they advocate for LGBT, immigrant, women, and people of color’s rights.

I believe in my students, and am committed to providing them with the same resources that students at the most affluent schools receive.

My Project

The diverse books in my classroom library are flying off the shelves, as my youth are hungry to read books that reflect their experiences as LGBTQ youth and youth of color! Books play an inspiring and healing role in the lives of young students, who often feel alone and misunderstood.

This project aims to provide students with the books they love, which feature characters that look like them, talk like them, and love like them.

Thank you for helping connect my students to books that can help them feel a little less alone, as they battle their own doubts and insecurities about their self-worth.
