My students need 5 complete sets of Leveled Nonfiction Readers (levels A-D) to use during reading groups, plus 3 additional individual sets for the classroom library.
Ravenous readers need books! My students need books to read at their level. I have classroom books that I read to students but not many they can read themselves. They especially like nonfiction titles.
My kindergarten students are beginning readers.
They are just learning how to read. Some of them go to the local library but have a difficult time finding books they can actually read. At our school we ask students to read 20 minutes every night. Most kindergarten students have their parents read to them because they can not find books for beginning readers. I would love to have books available for them at their reading level. We also need multiple copies of the same title for reading groups.
My Project
Some of the books I am requesting will be put in our classroom library. Students will choose books from the library during independent reading time. They will be able to pick a book they can read all by themselves! The other part of the books will be used for guided reading. We do not have enough books at the beginning levels for students.
I have a classroom full of ravenous readers without books.
These books will provide many books at the beginnings levels for them to read and gain confidence in themselves. The books will be used for many years to come.
