Oh, the possibilities, having two iPads with headphones will provide my kindergarten students with numerous educational learning opportunities. I could have one student working on letter sounds and another student working on addition.
My students are loving and curious.
They love to learn using technology, but they get frustrated and impatient waiting for their turn on the computer. Kindergarten students crave fun and yearn to learn. Some students need extra practice to meet proficiency and others need to be challenged. When is it going to be my turn? When will I get a chance? This is what I hear everyday from my kindergarten students. Most of my students don't have iPads at home so they are excited and eager to use them in class. With only two computers it might take a week or more before they get their turn.
"Aloha" from my bright and eager kindergarten students. Our school is located in a predominantly rural and low-income neighborhood. The majority of my students are of Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander ancestry, although, we do have a diverse population at the school.
My Project
Oh, the possibilities, having two iPads with headphones will provide my kindergarten students with numerous educational learning opportunities. I could have one student working on letter sounds and another student working on addition. The touch-screen will be developmentally appropriate for kindergarten because they learn through touch, hearing, and seeing. The iPads will provide extra practice to help the students meet proficiency in reading and math. I can use the iPads to differentiate my instruction for students that are well below, meets, or above grade level.
Can you imagine the impact these iPads will have on my students!
They will be able to get extra practice on reading, and math. My students will be able to research different places and animals. They will be able to illustrate a piece of their writing. As the teacher, I will be able to differentiate their learning based on their needs. I also won't hear the dreaded question "When will I get a chance?"
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
