Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We house over 700 hundred students, all of them with great potential and a great attitude towards school.
Our school is Title I and we are bilingual program.
Our families come from Economically Disadvantage communities and some of them were recently impacted by Hurricane Harvey.
We hope we can have our project funded so that we can get tools to enhance our students' education as our families lack the funds to support our classroom.
My Project
Role Play is an important part of a child's early development. It helps young children's brains to develop and for their language and communication skills to mature.
Role Play stimulates children’s imagination and enhances their social development.
It also encourages friendship through cooperation, listening and turn taking.
I am asking for a Veterinarian Costume, a Nurse Costume and a Chef Costume. My students will be able to make connections as they play dress up, they will root their imaginative stories by giving them a chance to explore it more thoroughly. For example, when students dress up like doctors, they practice helping people and it promotes community service.
To complement the costumes for role play, I am asking for a Classroom Vet Center, a Doctor's Office and play food to create balanced meals as my students learn about nutrition and pretend to be chefs.
