My Project
It has been my privilege to serve the "special needs" population of children for 42 years. I have students with autism, intellectual disabilities, speech impairments, gross and fine motor deficiencies to name a few. They have enriched my life in unimaginable ways and I count it a blessing to be afforded the opportunity to invest in their future. Each day presents with a new set of challenges and we embrace those challenges with determination and high expectations. Their unique learning styles require creativity and spontaneity which keeps me razor sharp and always seeking unique ways to educate them to the best of their ability.
The ability to laminate our classwork, assignments, teacher created activities and various projects offer us additional means for the preservation and physical/visual enhancement of our hard work.
As I consider each of my students needs, I attempt to create work activities that support individualized student learning. I am BLESSED to have classroom assistants who are as committed as I am to insure that our students are not defined by their handicaps. We work as a team and embrace the opportunity to educate our students.
