When the Environment Supports Learning the Learning Becomes Irresistible
Help me give my students the learning supports they need. Every student needs differentiated strategies to comfortably and effectively take in all the learning. The willingness to learn is from how they feel in their space.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
With these items on my list I will be able to fully support differentiated learning abilities and behaviors in my classroom. As a teacher you notice what each student needs and what we need is a flexible and safe environment. Students love making adjustments to our class to make it feel like home. With these materials they will not only feel comfortable in this space but they will look at this classroom as their own bubble outside of home. With these materials students won’t feel like it’s just a classroom with 4 walls but instead a safe place for growth. They will be able to accommodate to what their body and minds need through the very long days. Like sitting at the library on bean bags or maybe we just need some carpet time with portable desk. Whatever it is they know it can happen anywhere through this space.
My goal is to support students through the obstacles of kindergarten.
They are just entering into this realm of education for most part and they need to feel that sense of welcome every time they step into it. I want students to learn anywhere in the class, read anywhere in the class and more importantly learn anywhere in the class. These materials will provide that nurturing environment that allows for learning to happen in any way or form.
My students require many accommodations and most of them are because of environmental factors around them. Some need to wiggle out through a lesson, some need breaks from the learning and some need to learn at a different place in the classroom to really focus. These materials will allow them to feel supported through those accommodations but more importantly to willingly want to learn.
