When Sustainable Living Meets Minimal Space: 21st Century Gardening Alternative

Help me give my students an AeroGarden to help them learn about alternative methods to growing food and living sustainably with limited space.

My Project

My 47 6th grade students, made up of two homerooms, include students with IEPs and English Language Learners who thrive in a hands-on setting. Many of them come from an area of low-income and apartments and homes where families are doubled up. This minimal space and cost of living limits the accessibility to nutritious food and the opportunity for hands-on, real world learning at home. However, it shouldn't!

Please help my classroom 'ohana with earning the funds to create a gardening alternative, all within the walls of the classroom!

Sustainable living and caring for our land is something that is integral to not only native Hawaiian culture, but also to Hawai'i as a whole. By being given the opportunity to nurture plants, learn about their health benefits, and eat what they grow, students will be able to bring their learning from the classroom into their real lives. This lifelong learning helps both their growing minds and bodies.
