My students need high interest books to cement and encourage a love of reading. Third grade is such a crucial year for reading, as it is the last year that students learn to read.

My Students
My classroom is full of students varying from kindergarten to fourth grade level in reading . A wide, interest filled classroom library is imperative for these avid readers. My students love when I read aloud chapter books, introducing them to different authors. They rush to find the book I have just read and are hungry to read other novels from the same author.
My students want to learn, but many only have the opportunity for reading at school.
Many don't have the luxury of a quiet reading spot in their home. I know many of my students go home and have to deal with adult issues and situations. I try to make reading an exciting adventure everyday they come to school. I know their only opportunity to just "be a kid" and enjoy a great book could very well be with me!
My Project
I specifically chose these books to add to my classroom because they are fun, high interest, and encourage young readers to read for long periods of time. These books help capture student's attention and helps to build their stamina. Stamina is so important in a student's educational career.
These books are often very popular in our school library and are not always accessible due to their high demand.
Having them easily accessible in my classroom will inspire readers daily. These books will not only be cherished my the students in my classroom, but by others as well. Finding books that both boys and girls will enjoy is always a daunting task and these books hit the spot!
