Help me give my students a class set of Flying Pigs for studying rotational motion.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Dillon's classroom raised $212

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The Flying Pig toys are a fun way to engage students in the concept of rotational motion during their first semester of Physics while reducing stress and creating a sense of calm. The little pig toy flaps its wings as it rotates in circles while suspended from a string. This hands-on example helps me to continue my mantra of "physics is fun!"
I wish you could see the students' faces light up when they walk into class and see a myriad of flying pigs above their heads!
The real-world example helps them to streamline their thinking. This can reduce the stress of an already difficult course and create a calmer classroom environment while they investigate.
They will perform a lab with the flying pigs in which they have to measure the angle of their rotational cone, the length of the string, and the mass of the flying pig. They will calculate the angular velocity of the pig itself and then calculate where it would land if the string was cut. It's like Toy Story, but in real life!
