We are an at-risk preschool program housed in a Title I elementary school. Our students are creative, imaginative, and curious. We are always looking for new ways to help us learn math, handwriting, and science. Most of these students are unable to afford the rich preschool environment that they deserve.
Most students do not have access to learning materials or even an adult to read to them outside of our classroom.
We want to build a rich, learning-based environment in which our students are given the ability to explore math, science, and art concepts.
I am looking to put together a pet prop box to go along with our pet study. Later this year, we will spend a month talking about pets. We will talk about what animals people have as pets, how we care for them, and the people that help them. I have put in for a vet office and animals to go along with it for the children to be able to explore caring for these animals. They will get to be act out being the vet that takes care of the injured animals in our classroom, or the pet owner talking care of their pet. These materials along with letter children explore the material also foster amazing social skills as the children work together assigning roles to care of their pets.
