My students need a wheelchair to be used in the classroom. Currently we have one functioning wheelchair. This addition will allow for more students to be able to use in the lab.

My Students
I teach at a vocational school in Western Pennsylvania. The shop is Health Assistant. Students learn fundamentals in healthcare, Nurse Aide, Patient care Tech and much more about the art of healthcare. It is a constant goal to improve the appearance of the lab to ensure students are getting the most and are ready for the world of work.
My students come from various backgrounds and situations.
They are very eager to learn and pursue careers in healthcare. Many of the equipment needed to instruct the students comes at a significant cost. All items used will be placed into our clinical lab.
My Project
Being in a healthcare industry it is imperative to train what will be used on a daily basis. Many of the patients/residents that we care for are transported via a wheelchair.
Currently in the classroom, we have one functioning wheelchair that is used for approximately 15-20 students at any given time.
It is a requirement by state testing that we train students in wheelchair safety. One of our current wheelchairs's brakes are held together with tape.
Students will get a variety of use of this equipment in the lab, it is an ongoing process to teach and ensure safety for healthcare.
