This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As part of the school year, I conduct the FitnessGram assessment. The assessment consists of several areas, including height and weight. I need to acquire a wheelchair scale in order to weigh many of my non-ambulatory students. They are wheelchair bound and it's impossible with a regular scale.

A wheelchair scale is more comfortable for the students since they can remain seated and give us an accurate reading.

As physical education teachers we conduct the Fitness Gram assessment as accurately as possible, but having the right tools makes a huge difference.

Many of my students are not able to stand on a regular scale due to stability and limitations. The wheelchair scale will eliminate the difficulties and keep my students smiling in the process.
