Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Socially responsible designers are how I describe my middle school scholars. As a science educator at GS, I see my students as part of the present and future scientific and engineering community. Each day scholars show me a willingness to persevere through real-world problems that impact their everyday environments that are similar to actual challenges scientists and engineers face in today’s workforce. The majority of students are from diverse families who live in or near our inner-city neighborhood school’s community. Our school has an 80% poverty rate. Our students are eager to use the newest technologies that Apple has to offer.

Our school promotes interests in careers in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM).

Our mission is: With integrity, GS is devoted to increasing awareness and promoting academic excellence in science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. It is our goal to produce scientific attitudes, innovation, and science-based learning opportunities.

My Project

Our Apple iMac will aid Environmental Club students in the collection and analyzation of animal behavior around their Logan Square neighborhood. Having modern technologies, like this iMac, will provide students a communication tool that is similarly used by actual STEM professionals and prepare them for real-world experience for their future careers. Environmental Club's goal is to make sure school community members are well informed about the health and well-being of their Logan Square Neighborhood's natural environments, so members can make educated choices that better the health of not only their personal outdoor space, but also the entire planet.

Our iMac will aid students in the production and distribution of their media product that develops out of what they learn through their collection of animal behavior data.

This data will be used to promote solutions that better the living situations of Logan Square urban wildlife. Student data reports will be provided in a high quality visual format, using their iMac professional editing software and hardware so that school stakeholders are provided with easy to access information that is both informative and entertaining.
