Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our high school is located in a city. The neighborhoods our students come from are pretty tough. Some of the stories we hear are heartbreaking. We try to create a safe haven within our school for our students. We don't have the best equipment or a great facility. However, when we are able to get new materials, our students appreciate it and care for them as if they were their own. That is why teachers put so much effort into getting supplies.
My Project
The Health and Physical Education Department always seems to have their hand in everything. I was asked to try to help out students who are homeless, displaced, and in need of basic everyday items. After getting involved, I did not realize how many of our students were in need. This project is so important because they need basic items just to get them through the day. I am asking for new underwear, socks, and sweats for our young men. They did not ask for nor do they deserve the sorrowful hand life has dealt them. The least I can do is try to get more clean underclothes to let them know people care and they can feel better about themselves.
