Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Picture this, you are in the third grade and try as you may, you are having trouble reading. Then a device comes along that will allow you to hear good reading fluency. A whole new world opens up for you. Now you are encouraged to read more. This is what will happen for my wonderful students.

We are a Title 1 school, full of wonderful thinkers.

All of the students in my class receive free or reduce lunch. Most of my students come from single Parent, low income families. They have a thirst for learning. I feel that it is my mission to supply them with as many resources as possible to help my students succeed. Reading is our focus area this year.

My Project

Some of my students are not reading on grade level. What they need most is to hear good reading. I could do this with your basic tape recorder, however I saw the AnyBook Recorder. Instantly, I knew that this device would be a great resource for my students. I could record any book text in my voice and my students could hear me read the text. The AnyBook Reader will help my students with reading fluency and comprehension. Each Monday I will record and display two books of the week. My students will read the books of the week with the assistance of the AnyBook Reader. They will then take a comprehension test with the expectation of scoring 80% or better on the comprehension test.

I can't tell you how important it is for a third grader to be able to read and comprehend the text of a book.

When they are able to read the world is an opened resource of knowledge for them. Open up the world to my students. Fund this project, please.
