This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are in the 11th grade self-contained setting, preparing for post-secondary opportunities. We are building communication skills: reading, writing, speaking and actively listening as well as developing our interests and abilities. Each diverse learner is pursuing personal academic, short-term and long-term goals. 10 male, 2 female students of varying abilities and stories, including: learning needs, autism, medical concerns, behavioral health conditions make up our learning community.

We are generating plans for life after high school-vocational, academic and independent living.

We collaborate to share experience and skills, but need access to independent research materials.

My Project

11th grade is a major milestone in the high school journey. This year focuses on providing students the opportunity to research and apply for their place in society after high school. Students are preparing for tests, completing service learning, seeking their first work experiences and applying to colleges and trades. My students' need the opportunity to explore their specific dreams and have the supports and resources to pursue and attain their goals.

With access to Chromebooks, printer, copier and scanner, in the instructional setting, students can explore career characteristics, school criteria and generate realistic and attainable goals, complete applications, generate resumes and build portfolios for their future endeavors in a setting conducive to their unique needs!
