My students need hands-on manipulatives such as centers and number boards so we can use them to effectively run math stations that are beneficial to all students.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Thank you for choosing to visit my sight on donorschoose.org. I am a Pre-K teacher of four year olds at a in a low-income/high poverty urban school district. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. They struggle daily in writing, reading, and math. They come to school hungry, unclean, tired and desperate for attention. They just want to be loved. My students are creative, clever and very spontaneous. They like to move, and they love to read. They want love and lots of positive attention. They are always smiling and full of spirit at school.
Many of them are being raised in single parent households and ALL receive free breakfast and lunch based on their socioeconomic status.
Our school provides a back pack program to feed many of these students over the weekends. I may not be able to control their home lives. However, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. It is my goal to provide them with the best education possible.
My Project
Oklahoma is in a budget crisis and our school is suffering severely from limited funding. These math supplies that you will be donating to our class will be utilized daily.
As a Pre-K teacher, I am the foundation of the student's learning.
This is their first experience with school and most of my children come to me having never even counted before. My students are struggling with recognizing their numbers, counting out sets, working with patterns, and sorting objects. The Hands-On Math centers will challenge my students in all of these areas. With these hands-on math manipulatives I will be able to use them daily to effectively run math stations that are beneficial to all my students. The counters and peg boards will help them learn to manipulate numbers. I will use the number rockets to help teach the students number recognition, counting out sets, and the number word. To make my students aware of time and encourage them to finish projects in a timely and effective manage, I will introduce the sand timers.
Most of my students come from homes with no math foundation and these donations will provide them with the necessary materials and tools to give them academic success in math. These materials will help my students increase their knowledge of math and prepare them for kindergarten. These manipulatives will have a great impact on my students today and in the future. My students and I will be very appreciative of any support that can give. Your donation will be the beginning of my children's future successes.
