My Students

I teach English language arts to more than 100 seventh grade students. Our school is a Title I school in rural South Carolina where a significant portion of students live below the poverty line.

My classes are composed of both high-achieving gifted and talented students, and struggling students who are often reading below grade level.

Each of these groups has very unique needs in order to be successful, and each group needs encouragement and guidance to reach their individual potential.

My Project

New books are flying off my shelves, and while this is a GREAT problem to have, I need more books! Since implementing daily independent reading at the beginning of this school year, I have seen an incredible growth in students reading both in and out of class. Sadly, I am one of the few places my kids have to borrow books and grow their love of reading. In order to keep up with my ferocious readers, I need to constantly add to my classroom library to find new and engaging titles to keep this momentum going. Please help us grow our library!
