My students need 18 junior basketballs, 12 women's basketballs, 3 junior and 3 women's teachBALL basketballs. The sizes vary to help differentiate instruction.
My students LOVE to be active and physical education class is the best atmosphere for not only physical activity, but social and cognitive development.
Our elementary school campus educates over 800 students in grades Pre-K through fifth along with several self-contained classrooms.
Being physical activity is essential to students now and as they continue to grow. At our elementary school students attend physical education class once a week for forty minutes.
My Project
Sharing does mean caring, but having to share equipment in PE class means fewer turns, less time practicing skills, and essentially less time being physically active. Basketball is a great way for students to be introduced to simple manipulative skills such as bouncing and catching, advanced skills such as offensive and defensive strategies, along with opportunities to team build. Having enough equipment for the entire class allows all of my students to participate fully and increase their physical activity levels.
Having enough basketballs for our entire class will allow ALL of my students to participate fully and maximize our forty minute class.
Having age appropriate basketballs will increase my 800+ students' success levels. Students will have the opportunity to improve their communication skills, manipulative and gross motor skills, team building, hand-eye coordination, offensive and defensive strategies, and their cardiovascular endurance through an introduction to the sport of basketball.
