My Project
My Novel Experiences class is designed to make readers out of students who don't identify as readers. In the first week of class, we filled out interest inventories to figure out what kinds of things we might like to read about, and they included that all-important question: "What is the last book you remember liking?" Their answers ranged from "Captain Underpants" and "Black Beauty" to "The Hate U Give" and "The Berenstain Bears."
From these interest inventories, we went shopping on Amazon to choose books and authors that might work for the readers we'd like to become, from Simone Elkeles to Mike Lupica.
I am excited for kids to be able to get their hands on these books that I am so sure will help them rediscover (or discover for the first time!) how wonderful reading can be!
