This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is a Title One public school located in inner-city Los Angeles. Many of my students come from low-income families and do not have regular access to books, supplies or even regular homework support. They depend on teachers and school staff for support.
They are eager and enthusiastic students who come to school to learn new things every day with a positive attitude and I strive to provide them with an environment that can help them be successful.
They are curious about all things around them and the unknowns.
My Project
The use of the Chromebooks will allow my students to access programs that will help them in reading, reading comprehension, writing and math. Our school is providing our students the opportunity to access programs such as Raz-Kids, Dreambox, EPIC!, and Lexia. With the help of the Chromebooks, it will give MORE students the opportunity to use the programs. Not only will these Chromebooks prepare students and expose them to technology they do not have in their homes, but it will also allow them to have an alternative when it comes to practicing reading and math, as opposed to using a traditional textbook.
