My students need a charging station so we can quickly charge our class tablets and an Alexa (Amazon smart speaker) with cover to develop their speaking skills by requesting information in a fun but learning way!

My Students

I am a special education teacher working at a low-income school. My students are very energetic and curious. They learn best visually with a hands-on learning approach. At times, we don't have access to the same resources as the general education class due to limited funds.

I work with students with special needs, ranging from learning disabilities to autism; they all have a thirst for learning.

Our school has a diverse population and culture with a wide range of needs. Our student body is a melting pot of local and military families.

My Project

First of all, we need a place to charge multiple tablets at the same time, less down time and keep them organized. Next, to help my 21st Century learners access information, as well as develop their expressive language skills, what better way than to practice and ask questions. By using Alexa (smart speaker) we can stop, ask, and get answers quickly or they can practice just speaking to Alexa and use it as a timer, or request to play inspirational music while working.

Students by nature, have inquisitive minds.

I want to continue to foster their curiosity and access technology through tablets and virtual assistance. So by keeping our tablets ready to go and Alexa on our side, the learning never stops!
