This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My name is Aaron Quezada and along with Mark Wolveck, we are the head girls and boys soccer coaches at TJHS in Dallas, TX.
This past October, our school was catastrophically damaged in a tornado, and we are reaching out for help.
For the past 10 years, Coach Wolveck and I have built strong relationships with our student-athletes. All the players, like most kids at TJ, come from low-income Hispanic families and several are recent immigrants from Central America. Me and Coach Wolveck have had many conversations about our desire for better soccer facilities and equipment at our school. After all, North Dallas is one of the most soccer-crazy pockets of DFW and doesn't have any good community space to play the game.
The F3 tornado tore through our neighborhood and changed everything. As TJHS lies in ruins, the community has begun to rally around the oft-forgotten school with a vision for a more beautiful future.
We are starting this project in hopes that you will support our cause for a better future of TJ's soccer programs.
My Project
This soccer training equipment will continue to enrich the soccer culture that we strive to create and maintain. The soccer field is a place that our student-athletes really enjoy and where they learn essentials like team work and valuable life lessons. Me and Coach Wolveck strive to provide and manage an exemplar performance environment for our student-athletes. All of this soccer equipment has been chosen with our players in mind.
This equipment, even though it is essential, it still will not replace what was lost and destroyed, but it will ease the transition of losing our school and having our student body displaced from our community.
Our students, despite their tough upbringing and background, always demonstrate hard work and perseverance. The recent tragic events that occurred will forever change the trajectory of their lives. This project will enrich their experiences as teammates, friends, and continue to create our family atmosphere.
