Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Middle Schoolers are full of tons of energy and wonder. My learning lab is a place where I seek to harness these incredible traits and provide students with experiences that can transform their education. Teaching three content areas, I work with an extremely diverse group of learners every period.
My students range from 6th grade emerging bilinguals to 8th grade leadership students.
These amazing learners come with deep funds of knowledge that enhance the curriculum and make every single day exciting.
My Project
Adjusting to middle school can really stink! Your schedule is changing, your friends are changing, and most notably your body is changing.
This project creates a hygiene station within my room for all students to use as necessary, including refugee and under privileged students.
Many of us have rushed out of the house forgetting to put on deodorant or given our teeth a good cleaning. Then we go about our day wondering if everyone else notices.
This project will emphasize the importance of good hygiene so my students can work closely in cooperative learning groups to accomplish project based tasks.
I have selected supplies that students can use discreetly such as personal hygiene wipes and disposable tooth brushes, so they have access and can get past the embarrassing parts of being 12 and get to learning!
