Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We believe every child can learn if we challenge, guide and provide the tools needed. By the end of the year, all children will improve their literacy skills, science and mathematical skills. Our students will be more active, play together, have healthier lives and learn about tolerance among them and our school community, which will aid them in being more successful in the next grade. The challenge comes with the lack of materials, equipment ​and all the budget cuts.

We have a high number of free or reduced price lunch students in our school and district.

Our classrooms are an all-inclusive model, where all children learn together. Because of the bad economy, some of our students are homeless at times. They are immigrant English learners from Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America, and Spanish learners from the community around the school. My children are so eager to learn new things. Our wonderful staff in our community school continues to learn and implement new ways to teach our students and strive to help everyone succeed.

My Project

What Should Danny Do? Books and 14” plush doll! Will provide my Bilingual learners with the power to choose. They will learn to decide and change the ending of the story by making choices. They have a blast trying to reach all nine different endings. This plush doll is a high quality replica of the main character, Danny, and comes with its own removable Power to Choose (P2C) cape! The Book and Doll will be a great tool to develop Social Emotional strategies and skills needed in first grade. The book will also help to practice reading skills for each student learning from home.
