What Shade of Green Can You Be?

My students need hands-on products, a power house and a biofuels production lab, that can illustrate and teach them how to produce green energy.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Kiehl's classroom raised $530

My Students

What percentage of green is your house? My students will be able to see where they may improve the energy efficiency of their home and surroundings.

My students live in the Delta Region of the South.

As the South learns to grow new crops to survive, so must my students. These students are from an impoverished area where the economy is slow to grow. They are curious and energetic, with minds waiting to be filled with ideas and answers.

My Project

My students need hands-on products, a power house and a biofuels production lab, that can illustrate and teach them how to produce green energy. My students will be able to harness energy from solar, with the use of solar panels. They will be able to produce energy from the wind, by using wind turbines and they will be able to harness energy from water run offs from farmers fields with the use of hydro generators. The activities will include how to make a solar panel, a small wind mill and a hydro pump. Each of these will charge batteries for dc storage, and then wired to an ac converter. The students will be able to work these items so that they will have a hands-on approach to how each of us can create energy without the dependencies of the power grid. These activities and applications will be able to improve the student's lives and their communities lives. With the idea and know how of how to produce energy through the means of "Green" energy and how to apply it, their cost of living may go down and some of the income can eventually come back into their lives.

These donations will help students use what they have around them for sources of energy.

This project will have a great impact on my students because they will be able to help their families to become self sufficient and rely less on fossil fuels.
