Elbert Hubbard: "One machine can do the work of 50 ordinary men. No machine can do the work of an extraordinary man." I want my students to be able to use machines and technology to become extraordinary people.
My students are enthusiastic, curious learners who are easily motivated by technology.
While my school offers a variety of enrichment programs in the arts, it is sadly lacking in technology both in the classroom and as a school. My classroom has no computers, no way to access the Internet, and no technology available to students. Since students will need to be fluent with technology in order to be successful in the 21st century world, it is essential that they are provided with opportunities to explore and learn through multiple technologies including the iPad.
My Project
My students will use the iPad to meet many of the Common Core standards in all subject areas. My students will annotate articles, journals, pictures, literature, and other electronic texts in order to gain a deeper understanding and make inferences about various topics. Having technology at their fingertips, they will work together in collaboration to solve problems, discuss thought provoking questions, and use research skills just as they would be required to do at their future workplace.
How can we keep moving forward with technology as a society and yet not provide the future generation with technology in the classroom?
My students are bright and smart. They are set to become the leaders of the next generation. The iPad will be the last piece in the puzzle of helping them realize their full potential.
