This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project is to help all of my students be ready for the third grade. This year is crucial for them to learn and catch up on all things. All of my students struggle with phonics, sounding out words, and letter sounds. Even my highest students struggle to break words apart. I believe that my students will benefit from these materials by having them sound out the CVC words and having to identify the sounds. I also noticed that my students are struggling with number sense, so knowing the worth of 10 or 25. I think that the 10-frame dice can help them better understand the worth of a number.

In Arizona especially, second grade is important to fill in the gaps they missed due to the "Move On When Reading" law they have made.

I feel the carpet is necessary for my students so they can choose where they would like to sit to do their work. I feel this carpet is big enough for each of my students to have their own space to work and enjoy their learning. I am hoping the things I have chosen can help with interventions so that my students are successful.
