What Music Program is Complete without Stands?!

My students need music stands. Reading sheet music off of the smart board can only work for so long!

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Voye's classroom raised $939

My Students

We have started a new music program this year, and have been building upon our supplies and instruments throughout the course of the year. The children have made due without stands, but will be able to flourish so much more with the ability to have their own sheet music right in front of their eyes.

My sweet and excited students love coming to music.

Classroom teachers and parents alike talk to me all the time about how much their children practice at home, sing at the top of their lungs, and love expressing themselves through this art form. Our inner city neighborhood school has a wonderful and supportive administration, staff, and parent network. The entire school community is dedicated to nurturing the most well rounded students in grades K-8 as possible. Keeping that in mind, promoting the arts to these creative kids is a top priority. I love my job, and being surrounded by so many children who thirst for an outlet for their own creativity and imagination. I could not imagine a better job than helping others love music!

My Project

Our music program is a fledgling project. We are continuing to grow and expand our supplies, instruments, and accessories needed for educating our children. This year, I have used the smart board in my classroom for projecting sheet music. In addition, the children have their own copies of the music for practice at home, however we have no music stands upon which to put this music. In my opinion, the students will flourish much more as musicians if they had the ability to read their own music in class. With their own sheet music in front of them, they could take notes on what they need to improve on and circle problem areas in the music. The most problematic issue in having no stands; The children in the back of the room cannot see the smart board! Having stands in our class would be such a help!

Honestly, only second to a child's instrument is having the ability to see their music directly in front of them.

Music stands in our classroom are very much needed to improve our music education program. Please consider helping us along in our journey to educating young minds and building a successful music program!
