What is an Ocean Ecosystem?

My students need a topographic map, a model of the earth and specimens to learn about the the Earth's oceans.

My Students

Do you remember the first time you saw the ocean? The wind constantly blowing, the smell of the salt air, the excitement of what lies beneath the waves? Many of my students have not had the opportunity to visit the ocean. I want to bring the experience to my classroom!

I teach 200 wonderful fifth grade students!

They are wild about learning. Even though most of them do not have the financial means as other students, they still have the heart and passion to explore the world around them. I want to give them the resources to begin their adventure to explore the ocean.

My Project

With these resources, my students will have a better understanding what treasures can be found in the ocean. With the Earth model, they will understand how islands are created. With the map, they can feel how mountainous the ocean floor really is! Finally, with the collection of specimens, they can see the kinds of animals and plants that make up this great ecosystem.

The ocean is such a valuable and important resource.

My students deserve to learn all about what it holds. I can't wait to teach them how valuable a resource the ocean is to them and what they can do to protect it!
