This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are funny, full of personality, and truly care about others. Many of them face or have faced challenges that I, as an adult, cannot even begin to imagine. Yet they continue to enter the classroom, daily, full of life and ready to learn. They are truly my heroes.
I am surrounded by voracious young learners who absolutely love making discoveries about the world around them.
Their curiosity is the foundation of our classroom. My hope is to provide them with experiences that will keep that desire to learn alive for years to come!
My Project
My students are always so fascinated by the world around them, and I would like to expose them to current events more often. I want to give them a glimpse of what is happening in the world. Developing a level of awareness causes students to want to dig deeper and learn more.
TIME for Kids is a great resource for making that happen.
A subscription for the class would provide each student with a tangible magazine to read, discuss, and take home to share with family. In addition to the magazine, students will have access to timeforkids.com. This online resource allows students to watch interviews with people from the articles they are reading. There is also a Spanish translation and read aloud component to support my English language learners.
