Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
There is so much going on in our world today providing so many opportunities for authentic learning. One of the big-ticket lessons this school year will be learning about the presidential election. In my urban first grade classroom, most of the events happening in our world are not discussed at home. Many of my little ones come from homes where the family's concerns are more about putting food on the table than discussing what is happening in the world around us.
It is often difficult to teach young children about our world with textbooks that are quickly becoming outdated. Yes, they supply information that will remain unchanged, but they do little more than that. To be able to make this learning possible (and concrete), supplemental materials are almost necessary.
The materials needed include age-appropriate subscriptions for TIME for Kids, books about children, families and our world as well as photo cards. These items will benefit my children by exposing them to people, places and events which are relevant to their age group.
Your support will ensure that these little ones learn about our world in authentic and exciting ways. Your generosity, in funding this proposal, will make it possible to bring this learning to fruition.

TIME For Kids Magazine- Big Picture Edition (grades K-1). Pricing is valid for orders placed after March 2008. After August 15th of current school year, pricing will remain in effect but TIME For Kids reserves the right to prorate issue quantity and free gifts.
