Many of us take writing for granted. As young children, we watched family members as they wrote and we were curious! Unfortunately, the children in my first grade class are not that fortunate. Many of the inner-city children in my classroom receive free or reduced lunch. They come from disadvantaged homes and often struggle in first grade because writing is so difficult for them.
