My Project
Recently we moved into a temporary swing space, and with it has come some growing pains as well as hunger pains. While we are only one month into the move, one question has lingered throughout our new space: "What happened to our snacks?"
I must admit, I had taken a pause from having snacks.
It took some time to get our new classrooms and offices set up. For the second time in a school year, we found ourselves having to set up our classrooms and become familiar with our temporary home for the next 18 months. However, our students are in school for quite a bit of time. Considering some who come for beforecare and stay for aftercare, not to mention the athletes who have practice and/or game right on down, they pretty much live in the building!
It seems like every two hours or so, the kids are hungry! When they are hungry, instruction can get a bit hazy for some. As opposed to worrying about where their next snack comes from, I can easily provide it to them! The snacks we are requesting are pretty consistent with student likes, with a little bit of influence regarding a few healthier options. The Pirates Booty popcorn is a first-grade favorite, and the variety of chips goes along quite well with our second-graders. What appears to be consistent with both of my groups of students are the Seaweed Snacks, Gatorade, and, for some (not all), trail mix!
