As a CTE teacher, I have the opportunity to train students in a culinary career. By the time they leave high school, they are prepared to either continue their education in the field or move directly into the workforce.
It is such an inspiration to see the passion that these students are already developing.
My students have a desire to enter the Culinary and Hospitality field as chefs, food service managers, caterers, etc. They look forward to class and are actively involved in not just hands-on labs, but also in studying to earn the nationally recognized ServSafe certification. My students deserve the very highest quality of education and real-world learning available to them to help them succeed.
My students are embarking on a brand new culinary curriculum this year. One of the new requirements is that all students will complete a professional portfolio of their classwork.
Students will be able to take these portfolios out into the world with them to get top-notch jobs in the culinary field.
My students will not be able to provide their own professional portfolio books to hold their pictures, recipes, menu designs, and certifications. I want them to have the upper hand when they go out to find jobs in their field, and having the best portfolios will help with this.
These portfolio books will give us a great head start in providing opportunities for our students to learn about marketing themselves for employment.
