Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our Title I school is located in a very diverse neighborhood in Brooklyn. My students are an enthusiastic and hard-working bunch. Many of my kindergarteners are growing up in low-income homes and do not have access to books and learning materials at home needed to promote their academic, social, and emotional growth. Regardless of the challenges they face, my students are highly motivated and love coming to school.
My students are imaginative and fun-loving kids.
Many of my students don't have the ability to learn online. Many depend on worksheet packets and whatever books they have at home. Despite the hardships they are facing with school being closed, they are eager learners.
My Project
I would like replacement toner cartridges that I can use at home while we are distance learning. This will allow me to print out materials that will help my students grasp concepts with visuals.
Unfortunately, the achievement gap is growing through this crisis.
With this toner, I will be able to print and mail my students their classwork and additional resources for them to use throughout distance learning and this summer. Additionally, this printer will be used to amplify students' learning once we are back in the school building, so it will have a lasting impact.
