Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach children with autism who unfortunately do not know much about the choices they make when it comes to food. Many of our children are reinforced with food. Most of the time the foods we give them are snacks that are not necessarily the healthiest. I think it is very important for my students to understand the difference between foods that are healthy and foods that are unhealthy. I hope to give them enough understanding that will help them make the right decisions. I think many of them would make a healthy choice if they were taught the reasons why. It's unfortunate that we do not have the supplies and educational material to teach my students. It is difficult to find many of the things I need to help educate them about nutrition. If our school had the supplies I am confident that my students would benefit greatly.
