My Project

One of our goals in our new 8th grade Advanced History course is to add a novel to each section offering different perspectives for challenging classroom discussion.

An Newberry Honor book, Nothing But The Truth, gives students the chance to discuss the messy topics of the First Amendment, media manipulation, and cancel culture from both current and post Revolutionary times.

Building a nation is hard work, especially when everyone has an opinion. In this unit, students will have every opportunity to do what they love best, talk. Everyone’s perspective matters, everyone gets a chance to express their opinions and make connections between issues our forefathers faced when building our nation and those we face today.
