My Students

How old were you when you decided what you wanted to be when you grew up? Kids are asked that question every day and they need a way to find the answer. I want my classroom to be a place where they begin to answer that question. Dramatic play allows children to imagine what life will be like.

My classroom consists of 20 four year old kids going to school for the very first time.

My kids LOVE to play and in Pre-K we do that a lot. Much of their learning is done through interaction with their new world. Their favorites are blocks, dress up, and playing outside. We are in a small town and Pre-K, Kindergarten, and first grade are in our building. I may be biased, but I do believe I have the best class in the building. They're so smart already and we just started school! I don't want my students to miss out on having great things in our classroom just because we're in a smaller district so we make the most of everything offered to us.

My Project

Dramatic play costumes are vital to children this age. They will give my students the opportunity to fully use their imagination. The best part of being a child is getting to dress up and play. These costumes would be available in my dramatic play center. When we begin to learn about the world around us, the children will have an idea of what the firemen, policemen, doctors, and mailmen wear and I will be able to give them the information about what those people do. This may be the first step of one or many of my students figuring out what they want to be when they grow up. I would love to be apart of their discovery.

These costumes will impact many students for years to come.

This is something that my class will use this year, but then I will be able to save them for students in my coming years. I want my children to have quality experiences while they're in my class and this would move me another step toward doing that.
